GUWAHATI: Bollywood playback singer Shaan took to Twitter to clarify his stand on the vandalism incident which took place during his live performance in Guwahati’s Sarusajai Stadium. He asked the youths not to harbour the sentiments of regional divide.

A section of the audience allegedly asked the singer to not sing Bengali songs in Assam and then hurled a crumpled paper ball at him. Shaan then stopped the concert mid-way and was visibly angry and asked the person to learn to respect a performer.

On Twitter he wrote, “My outcry was not directed to that one Individual but to all who are harbouring these ‘Regional Divide’ sentiments!! The Youth must not fall into this trap #StayUnited.”

He added, “Just for the records... loved my Assam Tour!! Saw the most fascinating sights...made new friends..had huge turnouts at every concert.. Over one unfortunate incident, it would be Very Wrong to tarnish this Beautiful State!!! Whatever happened was in the heat of the moment.”

The singer also clarified that no stone was pelted at him as per several media reports, and only a “paper ticket folded up was thrown on stage by one person after vigorously gesturing and shouting to stop singing.”

Additionally, an FIR was also filed against a Guwahati man at Bhangagarh police station for spreading false and baseless rumours of stone pelting at Shaan’s concert.
