Shutdown Notice issued to 16 wedding halls in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The Assam Pollution Control Board via an order issued shutdown notices to 16 wedding halls in Guwahati for not having Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) on July 1.

The the 16 affected halls are: Celestial Vivaah Bhavan in (Panjabari), New Brindaban Garden (Zoo Narengi Tiniali), Rambha Madhab Amrabati Marriage Hall (Hatigaon), Sagarika Palace (Narengi), Urba Bibah Bhawan (Lalganesh), Jon Beli Bibah Bhawan (Sasal), Green Castle Marriage Hall (Kumarpara), Jonaki Kareng Bibah Bhawan (Narikolbari),Manisha Bibah Bhawan (Hatigaon), City Den Party Hall (Bhetapara), Kalpana Bibah Bhawan (Mathgharia), Algian Palace Marriage Hall (Lastgate), Kanika Bibah Bhawan (Barowari), Town Hall and Project and Service Limited (Narengi),  Haryana Charitable Trust (Kumarpara) and Riste Bibah Bhawan (Rihabari) are the wedding halls those received shutdown notice from the Pollution Control Board of Assam.

It is to be mentioned that the Supreme Court of India in its judgment on the Paryavaran Suraksha Samiti Vs Union of India and Others, made functional ETP mandatory for the hotels and the restaurants.

ETP is a process of removing contaminants from municipal wastewater, containing mainly household sewage plus some industrial wastewater before releasing in the  environment.
