This century marks his fifth in the World Test Championship (WTC), surpassing Virat Kohli, Mayank Agarwal, and Rishabh Pant to become the Indian player with the second-most centuries in WTC history. Gill now stands only behind Rohit Sharma, who tops the list with nine centuries.

The innings was not without its challenges. Bangladesh's bowlers, particularly their spinners, had moments of brilliance, and the overcast conditions made the pitch difficult to navigate. Gill, however, showed quick adaptation, relying on his straight bat and sound defensive technique. His ability to find boundaries at crucial moments not only added to India’s momentum but they also managed to deliver psychological blows to the opposition.

This century was particularly significant for Gill, coming after a string of impressive performances across formats. He has not only helped India to a commanding position in the Test but also cemented his place as one of the upcoming young talents in world cricket today.
