Shakti Dubey Tops UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024

 

GUWAHATI: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)  announced the final results of the Civil Services Examination 2024 on Tuesday, April 22. The selection process began with the written examination in September 2024 and concluded with interviews held from January to April.

Shakti Dubey has secured the top rank, followed by Harshita Goyal at second place and Dongre Archit Parag at third. A total of 1009 candidates have been recommended for appointment to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service, and various Central Services under Group A and Group B. 

The merit list reflects a diverse representation: 335 candidates from the General category, 109 from Economically Weaker Sections, 318 from Other Backward Classes, 160 from Scheduled Castes, and 87 from Scheduled Tribes. 

Among them, 45 candidates are persons with benchmark disabilities, spread across four disability categories.
UPSC has maintained a consolidated reserve list comprising 230 candidates, as stipulated under Rule 20(4) and (5) of the Civil Services Examination Rules, 2024. The result of one candidate has been withheld, and the candidature of 241 recommended candidates remains provisional.

The total number of vacancies reported by the central government stands at 1129, including 50 vacancies for persons with benchmark disabilities. Appointments will be made based on the number of available positions and in accordance with the respective service rules.
