GUWAHATI: A half-decayed body of a woman was discovered late Thursday night, August 8, in Hengrabari, Guwahati.

The incident came to light after neighbors noticed a foul smell emanating from the room and alerted the landlord.
The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Manashi Konwar Kachari, originally from Dhemaji, working in a restaurant at Dispur. The landlord, who reported the incident, mentioned that she had been staying in the rented accommodation for some time.
Talking to GPlus, an official from Dispur police station said, "Preliminary investigations suggest that the woman was murdered around four days ago. We have found a mobile phone at the scene, covered in blood. However, the exact details of how the murder occurred are still unclear."
The body has been sent to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for a postmortem examination. Further details are awaited.
