SC Extends date for hearing of Petitions Against Citizenship Act

GUWAHATI: The Supreme Court on December 18 issued a notice to Centre on petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the amended Citizenship Act. 

The Apex court has adjourned the matter till January 22 next year.

It is to be mentioned that the top court was hearing pleas by the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, and Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha, among others.

Meanwhile Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that there was no question of rolling back the law.
