GUWAHATI: Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra has been thronging with people since morning today and people have been seen standing in long queues to avail of the passes for the Grand Bihu Celebrations at the Sarusajai Stadium on April 14.
The Assam Government announced on Monday that it will be providing passes for interested spectators who wish to witness the Bihu Celebration on April 14 at the Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati.
While addressing a press conference, Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “For people who wish to watch the actual programme, passes would be made available from April 11 at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra. People interested, can purchase the passes from there and watch the performers live on April 14 along with the entire world.”
The passes are being provided at the Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra from today onwards and only one pass is being allotted per head. Showcasing the Aadhar card is also mandatory in order to avail of the pass.
However, there has been news circulating that the passes need to be purchased from Srimanta Sarkardeva Kalakshetra.
Clarifying it, Ashok Singhal, the Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, in a tweet informed that the passes that have been made available are free of cost and do not need to be purchased.
“I would like to inform the people of Assam that this is completely false and misleading news. The Government of Assam has issued free passes to the spectators to witness this historic moment,” the tweet read.
