GUWAHATI: The Special Task Force (STF), Assam in an operation confiscated counterfeit gold and Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) in Jorabat on January 3.
The operation was conducted in 8th mile, Jorabat, after credible intelligence was received by the authorities under Basistha Police Station which led to the confiscation of one boat-shaped fake gold object weighing 1.627 kilogram, 150 Counterfeit notes (FICN) of ₹500 denomination amounting to a total of ₹75,000.
Two mobile phones have also been confiscated in the raid. Additionally, one four-wheeler has been seized which was allegedly being used in the illicit activities along with the apprehension of three individuals allegedly involved in the illegal activities.
The individuals have been identified to be Monsur Ali of Lakhimpur, Rajib Ali of Barpeta, and Jahidul Islam also from Barpeta.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the individuals and further details are awaited.
