The review also covered the expansion of the National Highway network from Baihata Chariali to Tezpur and Gohpur to Kulajan, with plans to develop 4-lane roads instead of 2-lane routes.
In a separate meeting, the Chief Minister met with Rajat Kumar Mishra, Union Secretary of the Department of Fertilisers, to assess the progress of the fertiliser plant at Namrup under the Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL). Approved by the Union Cabinet at a cost of ₹10,601.40 crore, the project aims to achieve an annual production capacity of 12.7 lakh metric tons.
The plant is expected to enhance fertiliser production, reduce import dependence, and support agricultural growth and employment in Assam.
