GUWAHATI: Assam Cabinet Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs and Irrigation, Ashok Singhal, inaugurated the Samuapara Gendrajuli Flood Irrigation Scheme (FIS) at Ganakpara, Kalaigaon, Paneri-Kalaigaon division.
Constructed at a cost of ₹24.5 crore, this irrigation scheme is poised to benefit the agricultural community by irrigating 980 hectares of farmland. The inauguration ceremony was attended by EM Diganta Barua and senior officials of the irrigation department.
Directly impacting the lives of 663 families, the irrigation scheme is expected to bring about transformative changes in the agriculture-dependent region.
The project's reach extends to several villages, including Bardhupatal, Khas Ranthali, Dakshin Bakrajhar, Ranthali Gardens, Chengapathar, Chaudhurypara, Neogpara, and Mormi Chowk.
Taking to X, Minister Singhal stated, “Inaugurated the Samuapara Gendrajuli FIS at Ganakpara, Kalaigaon, Paneri-Kalaigaon division. Constructed for Rs. 24.5 crore, this scheme will irrigate 980 hectares of agricultural land. Directly benefiting 663 families. Benefitted Villages- Bardhupatal, Khas Ranthali, Dakshin Bakrajhar, Ranthali Gardens, Chengapathar, Chaudhurypara, Neogpara, Mormi Chowk. This marks another step forward towards fulfilling our commitment of ‘continuous irrigation, flourishing farmland’s under the leadership of Hon’ble CM Dr. @himantabiswa. Present on the occasion were EM Shri Diganta Barua, senior officials of the irrigation department.”
