GUWAHATI: The Government of Assam has announced financial support of ₹1.5 lakh to Bihu committees for organising the Bihu festivals.
This initiative has been undertaken to promote and preserve cultural festivities. This financial assistance is expected to contribute to the overall success and vibrancy of the Bihu festival, benefiting communities across the state. Bihu committees, responsible for organizing various events and cultural programs during the festival, can now utilise the funds to enhance the festival's infrastructure, promote local talent, and ensure a memorable experience for participants and spectators alike.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma took to X to put out, "As part of our government's initiatives, the Government of Assam is now providing Rs 1.5 lakhs to Bihu committee for organizing the Bihu festival. This marks the first time such support is being provided under our administration."
