GUWAHATI: A patrolling party discovered the carcass of a Royal Bengal Tiger near the Bhavpur Camp in Orang National Park on February 2 morning.
A team from the Darrang Forest Department reached the spot immediately after recovering the carcass by the patrolling party and took stock of the situation.
On receiving the news about the carcass discovery, Orang Forest Officer Pradipta Barua, Dalgaon veterinarian Mahidul Haque, regional forest officer Dibyajyoti Deori forest conservator Pranjit Deka, wildlife photographer Nejib Ahmed and a team of journalists, also arrived on the spot.
The team immediately launched a probe into the death. It was later found that the tiger died due to old age.
Talking to G Plus, DFO Pradipta Baruah said the tiger died 10 - 12 days ago.
According to the 2018 census, 24 Royal Bengal Tigers are left in the Orang National Park.
