GUWAHATI: The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam (DVAC) on Wednesday, February 5 trapped and arrested Siba Prasad Saikia, an Assistant Engineer at the Central Block Development Office, Jorhat, for allegedly accepting a bribe.

Saikia was caught red-handed after he allegedly demanded and received ₹15,000 from a complainant in exchange for clearing MGNREGA bills. The complainant, unwilling to comply with the illegal demand, approached the vigilance authorities, leading to an operation that resulted in the officer’s arrest.
The individual is now in custody, and further investigations are underway.
