The tragic news comes just days after Bhaker, a double Olympic medalist, was honoured with the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award by President Draupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Manu Bhaker, 22, made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics, becoming the first Indian athlete to win two medals in a single edition of the Games. She secured India's first medal in the women's individual 10m air pistol event, claiming bronze and becoming the first Indian woman shooter to achieve an Olympic medal. A few days later, Bhaker, along with Sarabjot Singh, won another bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, marking India's first-ever Olympic team medal in shooting.
