GUWAHATI: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) inaugurated its sub-office in Kohima on Tuesday, expanding its presence in the Northeast region.
With this new addition, the RBI now has offices in six states of the Northeast- Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Nagaland.
Initially, the currency management responsibilities of the Kohima sub-office will be handled by the Guwahati office of the RBI.
Furthermore, the RBI plans to establish a similar office in Itanagar soon.
Until the Itanagar office is operational, the Guwahati office will continue to serve the banking needs of Arunachal Pradesh, the media reported citing an RBI notification.
