The veteran industrialist had been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital after a sudden drop in his blood pressure. His condition worsened, and he was moved to the intensive care unit (ICU) for treatment.

Just days before, on October 7, Ratan Tata had addressed concerns about his health through a post on X (formerly Twitter), dismissing rumours and assuring his followers that he was undergoing routine check-ups for age-related conditions. "There is no cause for concern. I remain in good spirits," he had stated, requesting the media and public not to spread misinformation.

"The clock has stopped ticking. The Titan passes away. #RatanTata was a beacon of integrity, ethical leadership and philanthropy, who has imprinted an indelible mark on the world of business and beyond. He will forever soar high in our memories. R.I.P," tweeted Harsh Goenka, Chairperson of the RPG Group on October 9.

Ratan Tata's passing marks the end of an era for Indian industry. Appointed chairman of Tata Sons in 1991, he led the Tata Group, which had been founded by his great-grandfather, through a transformative period. He played a pivotal role in founding Tata Teleservices in 1996, expanding the conglomerate's reach into telecommunications. Under his leadership, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) went public in 2004, cementing its place as a global IT giant.
