GUWAHATI: Rapido has suspended a few of its captains/bike riders for allegedly creating violence in the Rapido office at Guwahati.

The bike taxi company is set to conduct an internal investigation on these suspended captains, who accompanied by unknown elements, entered Rapido Bike’s Guwahati office and engaged in acts of violence with the staff, as well as damaged company property, stated company in a press release. The release further stated that the suspended captains have been verbally and physically harassing other captains on-ground while at work.

Talking to G Plus, Rapido's Guwahati in-charge Subhankar Banerjee said, "More than 50 suspended captains barged inside the Guwahati office and started manhandling the staff. Only 5 to 6 could be identified as all of them were wearing masks. The owner of the property had to interfere in the matter."

Banerjee said that the captains have been warned at least three to five times before suspension. "Amid the pandemic, the captains illegally took offline rides and asked people to cancel the rides more than the acceptable number of cancellations which is the reason for their suspension. A police case has been registered at the Dispur police station and investigation is on," Banerjee said adding, "There are a lot of riders at Khanapara providing illegal services, people should be careful and not entertain these for their safety".

On the other hand, unsubstantiated charges have also been leveled by certain Bike Taxi Unions, instigated by the suspended captains against Rapido, which claims that the company indulged in unethical practices through the C2C delivery service. However, Rapido has denied all allegations stating them baseless.
