Rangchapara declared as the cleanest village of Assam

Rangchapara village of Goalpara district has been declared as the cleanest village of Assam, by the Department of Public Health and Engineering (PHED). During the survey, the villages in every district were examined on the basis of specific criteria like adequate community mobilization, open defecation free initiatives, toilets with water facilities, attempts to promote awareness on cleanliness and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and so on. Apart from Rangchapara, the other shortlisted villages were – Seajuli Bagangaon in Lakhimpur, Nij Panbari in Kamrup (M), Zion in Dima Hasao, and Shikdamakha in West Karbi Anglong. “When we evaluated Rangchapara, and compared it with the other four shortlisted villages, we found that it responded and fulfilled the criteria laid down by us.
