GUWAHATI: Light to moderate rainfall hit Guwahati on Sunday, February 23, bringing a change from the dry conditions prevailing over the past few weeks. The sudden drizzle, which began in the afternoon, continued intermittently for a few hours, leaving parts of the city drenched.

The overcast skies and persistent drizzle also resulted in a drop in daytime temperatures, offering respite from the slightly warmer conditions that had been lingering during the last stages of winter.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier predicted light to moderate rainfall for parts of Assam and the northeastern states between February 21 and 25, attributing the change in weather to a cyclonic circulation over the region.

While Guwahati experienced showers, some other parts of Assam and Meghalaya also reported rainfall.

With no significant temperature fluctuations expected, residents can anticipate cooler and pleasant weather in the coming days. However, authorities have urged caution, especially for motorists, as wet roads and reduced visibility could pose challenges.
