Quarantined Youth Escape to Meet Girlfriends, Return with Alcohol, Cigarettes & Weed in Manipur

GUWAHATI: Two young boys who were quarantined in Tamenglong, Manipur had escaped the facility to meet their girlfriends and thereafter returned with alcohol, cigarettes and weed.

The youth also sold the cigarettes and intoxicants that they had brought back to the inmates at the quarantine centre.They were caught selling alcohol to inmates and from there the story of their escape from the facility came to light.

“2 returnees escaped to meet their gFs and came back having collected their bike from home… 8 litres of local made liquor brought to one Qurantine Centre as ordered by some Quarantinees… 4 packages of Ganja and Cigarettes being demanded by one of the Quarantinees… and caught while delivered,” wrote the Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong on Facebook.

The official also seemed puzzled over punishing the boys saying, “We are running out of options to punish the as Jails are closed.. No one wants to beat them up for fear of Human rights violation.. Even if we impose fines you can easily pay it because you will recover by selling your supply at higher rates.. We can’t Quarantine you bec we cant feed u or has no more space !!!”

The deputy commissioner also referred to the boys as 'Black Sheep' who brought a bad name to the quarantine centre which was being helped by villagers, church and volunteers.
