GUWAHATI: The Government of Assam has declared a public holiday on April 22 for Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) election within the Guwahati Municipal Corporation area.
"All the Govt./ Non Govt. Offices,, Educational Institutions, and Business Establishments Including Bank, Tea Garden and Industries etc. within the Guwahati Municipal Corporation Area will remain closed on account of this Public holiday under N.I. Act," an official notification read.
Earlier on March 31, the Assam State Election Commission announced the postponement of the GMC election by a few days on account of the Rongali Bihu celebration.
The GMC poll has been rescheduled from April 19 to April 22.
The date of counting has been moved from April 21 to April 24.
