GUWAHATI: The Kamakhya-Puri Express remained stranded for more than two hours at Dhuliyan Ganga railway station in West Bengal on Friday, April 11, due to an ongoing protest in the area.

The disruption began around 2:30 PM, leaving passengers anxious and without clarity on when the train would resume its journey.
A frustrated commuter speaking to GPlus said, “The train stopped moving at around 2:30 PM and we are left here stranded for a significant amount of time.”
According to preliminary information shared by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), the disruption was linked to a protest regarding the Waqf Act. “We also got information from the RPF about a protest against Waqf Act. There is a possibility that a few police officials were injured,” the commuter added.
At the time of filing this report (5:50 PM), the situation remained unresolved. Passengers on board the express train were appealing to railway authorities to take urgent action to manage the situation and ensure safety and movement. A section of the passengers are also requesting help from the government through various social media platforms.
An official from the Eastern Railway division, while speaking to GPlus, stated, “There is some protest going on regarding some burning issue and we are not sure how long it will take to pacify.”
Railway officials have yet to provide a formal update regarding the resumption of services or alternative arrangements for the stranded passengers.
