The protest, spearheaded by student leaders, including B Borooah College Students’ Union General Secretary Manas Pratim Das, Vice-President Bhaskar Rava, and National Students' Union of India (NSUI) State Secretary Madhu S Deka, voiced concerns about the impact of the CAA on the identity of Assam.

Talking to GPlus, Deka, the former general secretary of B Borooah College Students’ Union, said, "Ever since the bill was turned into an Act back in 2019, the emotions of Assamese people, the sacrifice of five youths, the protests were all overshadowed by the BJP's decision and the notification."

"The Assam Accord was a historic agreement (drafted) after the sacrifice of 855 lives. BJP came to power after promising to bring the Assam Accord into effect but it was all a lie and now they have imposed an Act which is not acceptable at all. We the students of Assam oppose it and will always stand against it to protect the identity of Assam,” Deka further added.
