GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has issued directives to facilitate seamless promotions for recommended candidates to streamline the promotion process for Assistant Professors in Provincialised Colleges, as per a decision undertaken in the state cabinet meeting on January 22.
As per the provisions laid out by the government, the eligibility cut-off for promotions has been set for November 8, 2023. This decision ensures that candidates recommended for promotion within the specified timeframe will experience a smoother transition in their academic careers.
One notable exemption granted in this process pertains to the submission of Income and Expenditure (IPR) and Manpower (MPR) statements. While such statements are typically prerequisites for promotions, the government has temporarily waived this requirement. The stipulation, however, mandates that all promoted candidates must submit their IPR and MPR statements by March 31, 2024, for the promotions to come into effect.
By streamlining administrative requirements, it will maintain the quality of teaching and research within educational institutions.
