GUWAHATI: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took oath as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, November 28, making her entry into parliamentary politics. This brings the Nehru-Gandhi family, i.e., Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka herself, serving together in Parliament for the first time in decades.

Priyanka reached Parliament with her mother, Sonia Gandhi, while her brother Rahul and husband Robert Vadra were also present to witness the oath-taking ceremony. She was sworn in alongside Ravindra Vasantrao Chavan, the Congress MP from Nanded.
Priyanka secured the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in the recently concluded bypolls with a decisive margin of 4,10,931 votes.
The bypolls, held alongside the Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly elections in 2024, were necessitated after Rahul resigned from Wayanad. Having won both the Rae Bareli and Wayanad constituencies in the April 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul chose to retain Rae Bareli, the family’s traditional stronghold.
