Pramod Sawant Sworn in as New Goa Chief Minister

GUWAHATI: Former Goa assembly speaker, Pramod Sawant has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Goa after the sitting Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar passed away Sunday evening, March 17  after a prolonged battle with cancer. 

Along with CM Sawant, Ramkrishna Dhavlikar of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and Vijai Sardesai of Goa Forward Party were sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers at Raj Bhawan in Panaji. The entire cabinet of late Chief Minister Parrikar has been retained.

The BJP-led alliance has a strength of 21 which includes 12 BJP MLA’s, three each from MGP and Goa Forward Party and three Independents while the Opposition Congress has 14 MLAs.
