Post Doctor’s Lynching In Assam, 5 Doctors Resign from Tea Estates

GUWAHATI: Around five doctors from tea estates of Assam have tendered their resignation over security reasons after Dr. Deben Dutta was hacked to death by a mob of tea garden workers in Teok Assam.

According to reports, three doctors from Mariani have voluntarily resigned. These include Ripun Karmakar from New Hunwal Tea Estate, SN Singh from Bhelaguri Tea Estate and Lupa Das from Kakojan Tea Estate.

Meanwhile, Ravi Baruah from Assam's Dibrugarh district and Ajoy Kakoti from Numoligarh Tea Estate have also resigned citing security reasons.

It is to be mentioned that the Assam State Branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) called for a state-wide withdrawal of medical facilities in the state from 6 AM of September 3 to 6 AM of September 4.

It is to be mentioned that unconfirmed news is making waves that more doctors working in Tea Estate are likely to quit their respective jobs.
