Political Parties of Assam Suspend All Activities to Mourn Tarun Gogoi's Demise

GUWAHATI: In utmost respect of the late leader Tarun Gogoi, and in pursuance of the three days mourning period announced by the Assam government, all political parties have suspended their activities and scheduled programs for this period.


Alongside Congress, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as well as All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), have decided to put on hold all organizational activities including the election campaigns.

All parties have been actively campaigning for the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections but have chosen to adjourn the same in respect of the veteran leader. 


BJP state president Ranjeet Dass, Congress president Ripun Bora, AGP president Atul Bora, and AIUDF leaders announced their respective decisions on Monday, November 23.
