GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Police seized around 39 grams of suspected heroin and arrested a person named Akhilesh Kumar Verma from the city’s Ulubari Area on Friday, April 4. The personnel from Paltan Bazar Police Station also seized a scooter being used by the person at the time of his arrest.
Verma hails from Uttar Pradesh, and was residing in Islampur, Guwahati, at a rented house from the past few months.

Taking to Gplus a police officer on the spot said, "We have ceased 39 grams of drugs along with a cellphone and ₹15000 cash from the possession of the person. We have arrested one person… Investigations are on." The drugs were concealed in soap boxes and hidden in the scooter's storage space.
Investigations are further underway to determine how the arrested individual came in possession of the drugs.
