PM Modi calls CM Sonowal, takes stock of Assam floods

GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday July 15, took stock of the ongoing flood situation in Assam.

The PM held a telephonic conversation with Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal regarding the same and assured cooperation and wholehearted support towards the people of the state.

CM Sonowal tweeted: “Had a telephonic conversation with Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji, who took a detailed stock of the flood situation in the state. The PM expressed wholehearted support and assured all cooperation towards the people of Assam & efforts of the Govt in providing relief & rescue.”

With the ongoing monsoon rain in Assam, more than 26 lakh people have been displaced from their homes and flash floods have killed at least 9 in the past 72 hours.

According to the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), there is a likelihood of more rainfall in the state in the next 48 hours.
