GUWAHATI: A man sustained injuries after getting into an altercation with a cab driver in Guwahati on June 20.

In the incident of Thursday night, the victim Saranga Baruah sustained serious injuries after being assaulted by a cab driver over a fare dispute in Guwahati. Baruah had booked a cab through Rapido from Kalyani Nagar in Kahilipara around 11 pm.
Upon reaching his destination, Baruah handed the driver ₹500 note for a fare of ₹154. The cab driver, Basir Ahmed, allegedly became agitated and demanded exact change. The situation quickly escalated into a verbal altercation, culminating in Ahmed attacking Baruah with an iron rod from the back of his car. Ahmed struck Baruah on the head, causing him to collapse.
Ahmed then allegedly took the ₹500 note and fled the scene, leaving Baruah injured on the pavement. Passersby noticed Baruah and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he received multiple stitches to his head.
An FIR has been lodged at the Dispur police station.
Talking to GPlus, a police official from the Dispur police station said, “We are working to nab the suspect. He will be apprehended soon and more details will be revealed then.”
