Parul Sevashram Hospital (PSH), affiliated with Parul University, has received the NABH Stroke Certification, becoming the first hospital in Gujarat to achieve this recognition. This certification has shed light on the institution’s adherence to structured protocols and national standards in stroke care and rehabilitation.
Located in Vadodara, PSH has established a dedicated stroke care unit offering rehabilitation services under one roof. The hospital provides stroke patients access to neurophysicians, neuro-physiotherapy, occupational therapy, yoga, and Panchkarma treatments. Patients who previously used to visit multiple centres for different aspects of rehabilitation are now receiving integrated care at a single location.
Since its inception, the hospital has managed over 1,000 stroke cases, with a number of patients availing services under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). Ayushman Cardholders are also eligible for treatment at the centre. The hospital treats patients not only from Gujarat but also from other Indian states and abroad.
Although PSH has been offering stroke care and rehabilitation services prior to the certification, the NABH accreditation has now provided the hospital with an external validation of its systems. The certification indicates compliance with safety standards, clinical protocols, and patient-focused practices required by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH).
In general, NABH-certified stroke centres are required to maintain specific standards that include trained professionals, emergency response systems, and protocols to manage stroke cases effectively. The certification also ensures the implementation of safety procedures aimed at reducing the risk of medical errors and complications during treatment.
The accreditation is expected to enhance the hospital’s capability in providing evidence-based stroke treatment and rehabilitation.
