Assam down town University (AdtU), in collaboration with Guwahati Insurance Institute (GII), organised a national seminar on "Insurance for All by 2047: Policy Innovations and Digital Transformation” on March 25. The event brought together students, researchers, academicians, and industry experts to discuss the future of insurance in India.
The seminar focused on the role of policy innovations and digital transformation in making insurance accessible to all by 2047. Experts discussed challenges, government initiatives, and the impact of technology on the sector.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Narayan Chandra Talukdar, Vice Chancellor, and Prof. (Dr.) Pranveer Singh, Pro-Vice Chancellor of AdtU. Deepak Kumar, Chairman of GII, stressed the need for industry-academia collaboration to bridge skill gaps in the insurance sector. Somnath Roy, Ex-Insurance Ombudsman, spoke about regulatory changes and policy innovations. Swapan Jyoti Sarma, Corporate Trainer and Ex-Senior Divisional Manager, LICI, highlighted how digital transformation is reshaping the insurance industry. Dr. Homeswar Goswami and Prof. (Dr.) Homeswar Kalita emphasized the importance of financial literacy in increasing insurance adoption.
One highlight of the seminar was the presentation of 41 research papers on topics such as insurance awareness, government incentives, digital disruptions, and policy reforms. The event also featured engaging panel discussions on insurance literacy, government policies, and technological advancements. The hybrid format allowed participation from faculty, students, and industry professionals from across India.
The seminar was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Seema Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management (FCM), AdtU. Dr. Tanima Tarafdar served as Convener, with Dr. Bishal Bhuyan and Santujit Chanda as Co-Conveners. The event was further strengthened by contributions from GII members, faculty, and student volunteers.
The seminar successfully highlighted the need for innovation and digital transformation in achieving insurance coverage for all by 2047. Assam down town University reaffirmed its commitment to fostering research, industry collaboration, and skill development in the insurance sector.
