Parents Oppose Guwahati School's Decision to Hold Offline Exams

GUWAHATI: The parents of Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Guwahati have opposed the move by the school to schedule plans of offline exams for the students.

A supposed circular issued by the school to the parents on Whatsapp states "offline exams only for class 9 to 12" amid COVID-19 restrictions.

This circular has not been received well among the parents. The parents' concerns have now been forwarded to the Principal.

G Plus spoke to a teacher, who on anonymity said, "We planned to conduct the exams from classes 9 to 12 with proper social distancing. The plan was to admit 10 students instead of the usual 40. But the parents have opposed the move and as such we have forwarded it to the Principal."

The move to open the school is in contradiction to the statements made by Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who had called for resuming of formal education from November 1.

Meanwhile, as per the school authorities, the circular was not a directive but a tentative way to conduct the exams going forward.
