GUWAHATI: Papri Banerjee, Assistant Professor of English at Icon Commerce College, Guwahati has run away from her home in the Gandhi Basti area in Guwahati. An FIR was filed against her in connection to a Facebook post she wrote regarding the Pulwama attack.
She was called to Chandmari police station for questioning on Saturday, February 16 and was asked to come again on Monday, February 18 for questioning but she did not show up.
She ran away from her residence on Monday morning. Her guardians have alleged that she has left behind a letter stating that she wants to spend some time alone, away from all the threats. However, they have failed to produce the letter to the police.
Biren Ch Deka, OC of Chandmari police station told G Plus, "Search is on to find Papri Banerjee as she has violated the norms by not showing up on the time of questioning. Further, the guardians have neither filed a police report nor have been able to produce the letter allegedly left behind."
It should be noted that a team of Police apparently went to her residence but they were informed that she had been missing since Sunday, February 17.
