Padma Awards 2025: One Padma Bhushan, 4 Padma Shri For Assam

GUWAHATI: The 2025 Padma Awards were announced on Saturday, January 25. Five individuals from Assam have been recognised for their contributions to the arts and literature. Of these, one has been named for the Padma Bhushan and four for the Padma Shri.

Satrriya dance exponent Jatin Goswami has been bestowed with the Padma Bhushan for contributing to the Arts.

Furthermore, Anil Kumar Boro and Gita Upadhyay have been conferred with the Padma Shri for their contributions to literature and education, respectively.  

Joynacharan Bathari and Reba Kanta Mahanta have also been honoured with the Padma Shri for their exceptional achievements in the arts.  

The Padma Awards, among India's highest civilian honours, recognise distinguished service across various fields, including art, literature, medicine, science, and public service.  

This year, 139 individuals have been honoured, comprising 7 Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awardees.The list also includes 23 women, 10 Foreigners/NRIs/PIOs/OCIs, and 13 posthumous recipients.  

The President of India will formally present these honours at ceremonial functions to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan later this year.
