GUWAHATI: The Assam government has exempted ‘paan-tamul’ and small vegetable vendors from paying any form of fees to Mahaldars.

This was announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma following a state cabinet meeting that was held on Friday, January 10.

Another key initiative taken during the recent cabinet meeting was the resolution to not convert the Deochali PRF in Dibrugarh into a reserve forest. This decision was implemented to safeguard land rights for the region’s indigenous communities.
