GUWAHATI: The Cyber Police Station (PS) of the Crime Branch recovered a total of ₹72,496 in two separate digital fraud cases, crediting the amounts back to the victims' accounts on Monday, February 17.

In the first case, a Bhangagarh resident who lost ₹99,000 in a G-Pay (UPI) fraud after misplacing his mobile phone in December 2024 has received a partial recovery of ₹18,500. Authorities are continuing efforts to retrieve the remaining amount.
In another incident, a victim fell prey to a fraud call posing as Amazon customer care, losing ₹54,695. The Cyber police traced the fraudulent transaction and recovered ₹53,996, which has now been credited back.
Citizens have been urged to remain cautious while handling online transactions and to report cyber frauds as soon as possible.
