Over 3 Lakh Students Skip Exams In UP Due To Strict Measures Against Cheating

GUWAHATI: Over 3 lakh student skipped their class 10 board exams in Uttar Pradesh on the first day due to the unprecedented strictness to curb cheating, media reports stated.

Several measures were introduced to the curb malpractices during the exam including introduction of ID cards with barcodes for room inspectors, intensified monitoring with CCTV cameras and police surveillance, and online monitoring of examination centres at various levels.

As per reports, a total of 3,33,541 candidates across both shifts were absent from the exam. Five cheating incidents were reported, with subsequent actions taken against the offenders, including fake candidates and a centre administrator.

To bring a stop to the malpractices, UP Board undertook additional initiatives to prevent students from cheating during the examinations.

Media reports further stated that the utilisation of ID cards featuring barcodes for teachers has been an unprecedented measure designed to prevent the infiltration of fraudulent room inspectors. 

Additionally, rigorous monitoring protocols were implemented in sensitive examination centres, bolstered by the installation of CCTV cameras equipped with voice recording capabilities. The presence of UP Police at the exam centres also acted as a deterrent for cheating during examinations, as per reports.
