Over 2,500 Pigs Die Of African Swine Fever In Mizoram

GUWAHATI: Mizoram on Wednesday, May 11, reported the death of 81 more pigs after African Swine Fever (ASF) cases were found in the Northeastern state in March, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department officials said.

According to reports, officials said a total of 2,572 pigs have died in Mizoram since the outbreak of the disease and 2,029 pigs have been culled so far. 

At least 39 villages in six of the State’s 11 districts have been identified as ASF infested.

Earlier on May 5,  Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department of Assam culled 70 infected pigs after African Swine Fever cases were found in the Biswanath district of the State.
