GUWAHATI: A massive haul of ganja was seized by the authorities at Karimganj on March 5.

According to official information, the Karimganj police intercepted a vehicle at the Churaibari checkpoint, after acting on reliable inputs, leading to the recovery of a substantial quantity of ganja. The vehicle, found to be transporting illegal substances, was thoroughly searched by the police.

The search resulted in the discovery of 439 packets containing a total of 1,317 kilogram of ganja.
Additionally, two individuals associated with the intercepted vehicle have been apprehended by the police in connection with the illegal transportation of the ganja. The suspects are currently in custody, and further investigations are underway to delve into the details of the network involved in this illicit activity.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to X to put out, “Based on reliable inputs, a vehicle was intercepted at Churaibari check point by @karimganjpolice and 439 packets containing 1,317 kg Ganja was recovered. Two people have been apprehended in this connection and further investigation is underway. Well done @assampolice!”
