GUWAHATI: Acting on a tip-off, the Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered and seized suspected Morphine weighing 1.008 kg from a passenger aboard the New Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express (Train No. 12423 DN) at Guwahati Railway Station on January 8.

The apprehended individual has been identified as Ajoy Kumar Gupta, 26, son of Ramesh Gupta, a resident of Jaitpura in Kaimur district, Bihar. According to official statements, Gupta boarded the train at Mariani Railway Station and was en route to Uttar Pradesh.
The contraband, classified under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, was discovered during a coordinated operation following specific intelligence inputs. The GRP has initiated legal proceedings, and investigations are underway to determine the source and intended destination of the illegal substance.
