GUWAHATI: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has recently dismissed reports suggesting that the Oscar awards ceremony will be cancelled in 2025 due to the occurrence of the Los Angeles wildfires.

Preliminary reports regarding the same had originated from a story published by the U.K. tabloid The Sun , which alleged that “secret contingency plans” were put in place to cancel the event as a result of the ongoing fire. However, The Hollywood Reporter countered this claim, stating that they are entirely false.

While the wildfires have brought about some unprecedented changes, such as the nominations voting period and postponing the Oscar Nominees Luncheon too, the board retained in its stance that the awards ceremony will go ahead as planned.
The Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, are handed out in March every year.
