AAP had earlier asked Congress to withdraw its candidates from Dibrugarh and Sonitpur as a reciprocal gesture to the former withdrawing its own from Guwahati in the greater interest of Opposition unity, and with the avowed aim to defeat the BJP.

The letter further expressed concern over the spread of misleading information by certain Congress-AJP leaders and candidates, who falsely claim to be UOFA or INDIA alliance candidates.

AAP demanded an immediate cessation of these deceptive statements and urged strict disciplinary action against those responsible.

Additionally, AAP requested Congress to release an official declaration, signed by all 16 parties under UOFA, announcing the 14 Lok Sabha candidates within the next 24 hours.

Failure to do so, the letter warned, would indicate a lack of opposition alliance in Assam, with only an alliance between Congress and AJP, while other parties like AAP, TMC, and CPM are contesting independently.

The media was also urged to refrain from propagating misinformation and to accurately report on the status of opposition unity in Assam.
