Northeast Lok Sabha Elections 2024: BJP Wins In Arunachal, Sangma’s NPP Concedes Defeat In Meghalaya

 

 

GUWAHATI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in a comfortable lead in Arunachal, following their winning streak in the Assembly polls, and has begun its celebrations in Tripura. BJP’s win is also continuing its dominance in Assam, with Prime Minister’s Modi’s party leading in eight out of 14 seats.

In Manipur, the NDA is trailing in both seats, and in a surprise, Congress may end its dry spell in Nagaland’s lone Lok Sabha seat. Meghalaya has witnessed huge upsets in both their seats, with a Voice of People’s Party candidate in the lead in Shillong, and Congress halting NPP’s winning streak in Tura.

The conflict-ridden Manipur, and Tripura, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, have 2 parliamentary seats each. Meanwhile, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura will see a contest play out for their lone seats.

 

 Meghalaya:

INC’s Saleng A. Sangma has won the Tura seat, beating the ruling National People’s Party’s Agatha K. Sangma. Mr. Sangma won over 56% of votes while the incumbent NPP leader secured 33.93% of the votes. In Shillong, the regional Voice of the People Party’s Ricky Andrew J. Syngkon dislodged former Union Minister Vincent H. Pala of Congress by 3,71,910 votes. 

In the 36 Assembly seats of the Shillong constituency, a strong battle played out between incumbent MP Vincent Pala (INC) against NPP candidate and Cabinet Minister of Meghalaya, Ampareen Lyngdoh.

Voice of the People Party’s Ricky Andrew J. Syngkon, a new entrant, dislodges former Union Minister Vincent H. Pala of Congress from Meghalaya’s Shillong seat by 3.71 lakh votes. In Tura, Chief Minister’s sister and a former Union Minister, Agatha Sangma (NPP) contested against INC candidate Saleng A. Sangma.

 

Manipur:

At 05:15 PM, Angomcha Bimol Akoijam of Indian National Congress is leading from Inner Manipur with 367382 votes. Thounaojam Singh from BJP is in the second place, having secured 260300 votes. Alfred Kanngam S.Arthur of Indian National Congress is leading from Outer Manipur (ST).

 

 

Tripura:

The electoral batttle in Tripura East reaches its climax as Kriti Devi Debbarman of BJP secured an emphatic win over Rajendra Reang of CPM. The victory was sealed by a margin of a whopping 486819 votes in this seat of Tripura.

Biplab Kumar Deb of BJP has won the Tripura West constituency over Ashish Kumar Saha of the INC.

 

Nagaland:

S Supongmeren Jamir of INC secures victory in Nagaland, defeating Dr Chumben Murry of NDPP by 50984 votes, garnering 401951 votes.

 

Arunachal Pradesh:

 

Tapir Gao of BJP wins the Arunachal East seat, defeating Bosiram Siram of INC by 30421 votes, securing a total of 145581 votes. Kiren Rijiju of BJP wins the Arunachal West seat, defeating Nabam Tuki  of INC.

 

Mizoram:

 

Richard Vanlalhmangaiha from ZPM is currently in the lead with 206377 votes. K Vanlalvena from MNF is in the second place, having secured 139532 votes.
