GUWAHATI: Just a day ahead of scheduled hanging of the convicts of Nirbhaya case, the Supreme Court rejected the curative petition filed by Delhi gang rape convict Pawan Kumar Gupta.
A five-judge bench headed by Justice N V Ramana said no case is made out for re-examining the conviction and the punishment of the convict.
The convict can now file a mercy plea before President Ram Nath Kovind. However, the mercy petitions of the three other convicts - Mukesh Kumar Singh, Vinay Kumar Sharma and Akshay Kumar - have already been dismissed by the President.
