Newborn Elephant Calf Named ‘Bikram’ At Kaziranga National Park

 

GUWAHATI: Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve has welcomed a new member to its wildlife family with the birth of a male elephant calf. The newborn, born to mother Rakhi, has been named ‘Bikram’ by Assam Minister for Environment & Forests, Chandra Mohan Patowary.

Announcing the news on X, Patowary highlighted that the name represents resilience and India’s rich wildlife heritage, saying, “Glad to name the newborn male elephant calf as “Bikram”, born yesterday to mother Rakhi in Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve. The name Bikram signifies valour and strength, a true symbol of our rich wildlife.”

Kaziranga National Park, located in Assam, is home to a thriving population of elephants, rhinos, and tigers.
