New Dispur Police Station In Guwahati Gets Operational

GUWAHATI: The Dispur Police Station has been shifted to the Ganeshguri area of Guwahati on Wednesday, August 31. The new police station has been relocated opposite the Gopal Boro Government Higher Secondary School for the time being.

Guwahati Police Commissioner Harmeet Singh along with the Joint Commissioner of Guwahati Police Partha Sarathi Mahanta, and DCP East Sudhakar Singh inaugurated the new police station on Wednesday evening.

Speaking to the media Harmeet Singh said, “The earlier police station was not very spacious for people. Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma has chosen this new place, hoping to provide a better service to the public.”

"The new police station is facilitated with everything that a modern police station should offer. In this new police station, we are providing a reception centre, child chamber, media room, canteen, a different cabin for the investigation officers, different verification cells, separate lock-ups for males as well as females, a room for keeping the seized items, etc. Moreover, now we have a Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) in the station,” Deputy Commissioner of Police, Hemanta Kumar Das said.

The Dispur Police Station has now shifted to a four-storeyed building that was earlier taken for rent. The Assam Government has provided land near the Dispur Hospital, where a building will soon be built. The future police station will be spread over an area of 3.2 bighas.
