GUWAHATI: NEUFC emerged victorious over Chennaiyin FC in their latest ISL fixture on September 29 with a 3-0 victory over the Chennai team at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati.
The resounding victory comes as a relief for the fans of the Highlanders after a crushing defeat in their opener against Mumbai FC.
The opening goal was scored by Parthib Gogoi with Konsam Phalguni Singh scoring the second. Asheer Akhtar scored in the 100th minute to make it a third with a resounding victory after a long time for the Highlanders in the league. NEUFC will clash with the newly promoted Punjab FC on October 6 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. Chennaiyin FC will next face Mohun Bagan Super Giant in their third game of the season at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on October 7.
