This decision follows the Supreme Court's refusal to delay the NEET UG counselling, which was originally set to start on the same date. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, will address several petitions related to NEET UG 2024 on July 8.

These petitions include allegations of a paper leak, demands for the cancellation and re-conduction of the entire exam, and calls for an inquiry into the operations of the National Testing Agency (NTA), among other concerns.

The NEET UG counselling process, involving multiple rounds such as stray vacancy and mop-up rounds, was meant to commence for students who successfully passed the medical entrance test. Eligible candidates are required to register, pay the necessary fees, submit their choices, lock them in, upload essential documents, and physically report to the designated institutes.

56 Students File Petition In Supreme Court To Oppose Re-NEET

The 15 percent AIQ NEET UG counselling includes seats in government colleges, central and deemed universities, and positions reserved for beneficiaries of the Insured Persons (IP) quota in Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) medical colleges. It also encompasses seats at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune.

In addition, the National Testing Agency recently announced the results of a retest conducted on June 23 for 813 out of 1563 candidates. In these updated results, the number of top scorers decreased from 67 to 61. This reduction occurred because six candidates, who initially received a perfect score of 720/720 due to grace marks awarded for time lost during the exam, did not achieve a flawless score in the retest. Nevertheless, these individuals maintained high scores exceeding 680.
